How to Extend the Life of Your Air Conditioner
Your home air-conditioning system is undoubtedly one of the most installations you have at home. It is beneficial and helpful in many ways. Just imagine how difficult it is during the long winter months when you have to endure the cold night after night. Surely the fireplace can help, but it does not heat the entire house, and it could be troublesome to go looking for wood every time.
And now that summer is almost here, can you already feel the summer heat? Sometimes it can be unbearable and uncomfortable. But, with a Schiller air conditioning system, things are much better. You can go home and relax, have a temperature just the way you like it, sip a cold drink, and watch television.
However, you also have to consider that even air conditioning systems need maintenance for them to last long. If you do not take care of them properly, it could end up getting broken in the most uncomfortable times. Here are some basic tips on how to extend the life of your air conditioner.
1. Clean and Replace Filter Regularly
One of the essential parts of your air conditioning system is the filter. It acts as the front for every dirt, dust and other particles out there. It ensures that the air you breathe remains fresh and healthy. And since it is used to sieve all unwanted particles, you expect it to get dirty often. It needs more cleaning and replacement than any other part of the system.
When it comes to cleaning, we recommend you clean it as frequently as possible, especially when the road exposes it. Or you may clean it every two weeks. On the other hand, we recommend you to change it every month during this summer and at least every six weeks during winter.
2. Clean Your Coils
Your coils also play an essential role in your system though it doesn’t need as much maintenance as your filter. Coil inspection and cleaning should be at least once every month. Remember to use a soft cloth when cleaning. Any harsh material can damage the part. You may also use a brush to remove dust and dirt but be very careful in doing so.
3. Regular Visual Inspection
One of the most common problems in AC units is leakage. There are many times when the group cannot produce enough heat because of leaking pipes. Check all the pipes carefully to make sure there are no leaks so you may have the maximum efficiency at all times. You also need to have a visual inspection of your installations to ensure that they are in proper working order.
4. Go for Annual Maintenance
Annual AC maintenance is not as expensive when there are already problems with your system. It is best to let experts inspect your unit at least once a year and make necessary repairs. It can significantly prolong the life of your AC. It also helps prevent you from spending a lot of money on repairs due to damages or issues that got worst.
